The Farm Credit West Board of Directors The
Farm Credit West Board of Directors is composed of eighteen directors elected
by Farm Credit West members and four appointed by the board. As elected
officials, directors are responsible for representing the best interest
of the organization and its borrowers.

Customers
can impact the business by electing the board of directors who set policy.
The Farm Credit West election process includes a regional nominating process
that ensures sound representation from throughout our service area and
representative of the major commodities financed by Farm Credit West.
Stockholders from throughout the association vote for all open positions
since directors represent the interests of all stockholders.

Meet
Our Board:

Adam B. Firestone
Term of Office: 2006-2009
Mr. Firestone is involved in wine grape growing, as well as wine production and marketing. He has also been a practicing attorney. Mr. Firestone also serves on the US AgBank District Stockholders Advisory Committee and the US AgBank District Farm Credit Council. Mr. Firestone is president of Grundoon LLC (which produces and markets wine and wine grapes) as well as being the Managing Member of Firestone Walker, LLC (a brewer). He is a member of the California Bar Association, as well as various wine grape and vintner organizations.
Thomas R. Heenan
Term of Office: 2005-2008
Mr. Heenan is a partner in Heenan Ranch growing peaches, prunes, walnuts and kiwi fruit. He is a member of the Farm Bureau and a former director of Sutter County Board of Education (through March 2002).

Joseph C. (Joey) Airoso
Term of Office: 2006-2009
Mr. Airoso owns and operates a family-owned dairy and farm. He is a director of Western United Dairymen (a trade association for California dairies), the Tulare Dairy Herd Improvement Association (which tests dairy herd milk and maintains dairy records), a director of the California Holstein Association (which promotes Holstein breed improvement), a Land O'Lakes (creamery) delegate, and previously served on the California State Junior College Agricultural Advisory Board

James (Dick) R. Akin
Term of Office: 2006-2009
Mr. Akin is involved
in the production of rice, as well as beans for seed and safflower. He is a director of
the California Farm Water Coalition and a graduate of the California Ag
Leadership Program, Class XI. Mr. Akin was formerly a director of Sutter
Mutual Water Company (through April 2003) and a Sutter County supervisor
(through January 2001).

Robert E. Amarel, Jr.
Term of Office: 2007-2010
Mr. Amarel is the managing general partner of Reason Farms, which consists of prunes, rented rice ground, and various properties. He also is a director of Sunsweet Growers and a member of the Farm Bureau.
Alben F. Barkley
Term of Office: 2007-2010
Mr. Barkley serves as one of Farm Credit West’s board appointed directors. He is involved in management of commercial insurance companies/agencies. Mr. Barkley is a trustee of Farm Credit Foundations, the regional Farm Credit consolidated benefits trust. He is president of Barkley Insurance Agents & Brokers.

James W. Brabeck
Term of Office: 2005-2008
Mr. Brabeck serves as one of Farm Credit West’s board appointed directors. He is employed as president and chief executive officer of San Luis Obispo County Farm Supply Company, an agricultural supply cooperative. Mr. Brabeck serves as an alternate on the US AgBank District Stockholders Advisory Committee. He is a member of the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo College of Agriculture Advisory Council, was founding chairman and director emeritus of the University of California at Santa Barbara’s San Luis Obispo County Economic Forecast Project, is a member of the Mission San Luis Obispo Parish Advisory Council, and is a member of the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives. Mr. Brabeck also serves on the governing boards of the following San Luis Obispo County organizations: the San Luis Obispo County Ag Task Force (which monitors activities effecting agriculture), the Juvenile Justice Commission; the Sheriff’s Advisory Council; Crimestoppers; the Law Enforcement Assistance Foundation; and, the Criminal Justice Administrators Association. He also serves as a member of the Los Angeles F.B.I. CA3 Alumni Board. Mr. Brabeck also serves the community in several other educational, youth, and non-profit service organization

Michael J. Cavaletto
Term of Office: 2006-2008
Mr. Cavaletto is involved in citrus and avocado production and proprietor of a citrus and avocado nursery. He is a director of the San Luis Obispo County Ag Task Force (which monitors activities effecting agriculture).

Gregory O. (Butch) Dias, Jr.
Term of Office: 2006-2008
Mr. Dias is operates Delta View Farms, a dairy and farm that is co-owned with his father. Since 1996 he has been a member of the executive committee of the California Milk Advisory Board (a producer-funded generic marketing organization promoting dairy products made from California milk) and is currently chairman of that organization. Mr. Dias is also a director of the California Jersey Cattle Association (which promotes Jersey breed improvement).

Richard Enns
Term of Office: 2007-2010
Mr. Enns owns and manages a family farming operation raising almonds and irrigated field crops. He is a director of the Rosedale-Rio Bravo Water Storage District (a distributor of irrigation water). Mr. Enns is a retired director and vice president of the Richland Cooperative Cotton Gin Board (a processor of seed cotton) and a retired director of CRS Ginning Company (a cotton gin).

Douglas C. Filipponi
Term of Office: 2006-2009
Mr. Filipponi is president and general manager of Filipponi and Thompson Vineyards, Inc. (a producer and marketer of wine grapes), president of Filipponi – Thompson Drilling, Inc. (which drills water wells), managing partner of Margarita Vineyards, LLC (a producer and marketer of wine grapes), and managing partner of San Juan Vineyards, Inc. (a producer and marketer of wine grapes). He is also managing partner of Santa Margarita Cattle Company, LLC and owner-operator of Vaquero Water Ranch (a cow-calf ranch). Mr. Filipponi currently serves as vice chairman of Santa Lucia Bancorp.

Keith B. Gardiner
Term of Office: 2007-20010
Mr. Gardiner is owner and operator of Gardiner Farms (which farms almonds and other diversified crops). He is treasurer of Rio Bravo Water Storage District (a distributor of irrigation water), a trustee of Rio Bravo Greeley School District, and a director on the board of the Farmers Co-op Almond Huller (an almond huller).

Craig Gnos
Term of Office: 2005-2008
Mr. Gnos is involved in the production of alfalfa, bell peppers, corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, sunflowers, watermelon, and wheat. He serves on the Solano County Farm Services Agency Committee, which administers USDA farm programs, and is an alternate member of the Solano County Agricultural Advisory Committee.

Robert Hansen
Term of Office: 2005-2008
Mr. Hansen is a partner in Hansen Farms (which raises irrigated field crops) and 3-H Cattle Company (a custom cattle-raising feedlot operation). He also serves on the US AgBank District Stockholders Advisory Committee, the US AgBank District Farm Credit Council, and is a director of the national Farm Credit Council. Mr. Hansen is chairman of the Corcoran Cemetery District, the Duncan Reclamation District (which reclaims soil in the Corcoran area), and the Bayou Vista Ditch Company (an irrigation system operator) as well as chairing the Consolidated Finance Committee of Hanford Community Medical Center and Central Valley General Hospital and is also a director of the Hanford Community Medical Center (a health care provider).
Blake Harlan
Term of Office: 2006-2009
Mr. Harlan is President of Harlan & Dumars, Inc., which farms row crops, tomatoes, wheat, corn, and hay; and, he is a partner of Wilson Bend Farms, a rice operation. He has been a director since 2003. He is a member and past president of the Yolo County Farm Bureau and received the Farm Bureau's Outstanding Service Award in 2004.

Dennis Icardi
Term of Office: 2006-2009
Mr. Icardi serves as one of Farm Credit West's board appointed directors. He is a management consultant specializing in agribusiness. Mr. Icardi is the former president and chief executive officer of Blue Anchor, Inc., a fresh-fruit marketing cooperative, and a member of Class V of the California Agricultural Leadership Program. Mr. Icardi is a director of Pascoe Publishing, Inc., a custom book publishing firm for the food manufacturing industry. 
Tim M. Inderbitzen
Term of Office: 2007-2010
Mr. Inderbitzen grows rice and prunes. He is on the Board of Directors of Farmers Rice Cooperative, and is an alternate member of the Yuba County Farm Services Agency Committee, which administers USDA farm programs.

R. Donald Norene
Term of Office 2006-2009
Mr. Norene farms walnuts and rice and is involved in beef cattle ranching. He was elected to the Board in 2003. He is a member of the Walnut Marketing Board, chairman of the Walnut Bargaining Association, and a member of the California Walnut Commission. He is a graduate of the California Ag Leadership Program, Class XX.
Barry Powell
Term of Office: 2007-2010
Mr. Powell was appointed to the board in 2007. He is an Executive Vice President with California Ammonia Company in Stockton and was Chief Financial Officer at Blue Anchor, Inc. for many years

Edgar A. Terry
Term of Office: 2007-2010
Mr. Terry is involved in vegetable and strawberry production/marketing and has been a part-time instructor in finance at California Lutheran University. He is a director of Terry Farms (which produces and markets vegetables), the Ventura County Farm Bureau, and Rancho Adobe, Inc. (a lessee and lessor of farmland). Mr. Terry is a member of the Executive Committee of Leavens Ranches.

Sureena S. Thiara
Term of Office: 2005-2008
Ms.
Thiara
is President of Manseena, Inc., a family operation involved in farming prunes, crop insurance, real estate investments, and a travel agency. Manseena, Inc. also farmed peaches through 2003. She is co-founder of Pulp Papery, a retail store featuring imported furniture, paper and gifts. Ms.
Thiara
is a Sutter Buttes Sunrise Rotary board member, past corporate member of the Prune Bargaining Association and International Prune Association, and past alternate member of the California Dried Plum Board. She is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento and received her Masters Degree from the University of California, Davis.
Case Van Wingerden
Term of Office: 2006-2009
Mr. Van Wingerden is involved in the production, shipping, and marketing of cut flowers and potted plants. He is a director of Westland Floral Company (which produces cut flowers), GroLink Plant Company, Inc. (which propagates cuttings), V W Floral Marketing (which markets floral products to the mass markets), Floral Ambiance, Inc. (which ships consumer-direct floral gifts), and Florabundance, Inc. (which ships retail cut flowers). Mr. Van Wingerden is also president of Floral Ambiance.
