Farm Credit West Supports Fresno State’s Veterans Student Association

Farm Credit West is a proud supporter of veterans. Every year, our Veteran Affairs Coordinator Len Monaco, spends a significant amount of time traveling to various universities in California in an effort to strengthen relationships with instructors and Student Veteran Organizations. Len utilizes these visits to introduce careers in agriculture to a group of students whose strong values often align to work in this industry.

Recently, Len accepted an award on behalf of Farm Credit West thanking the Association for support of the student veterans’ organization. Our military veterans demonstrate strong personal values, such as team work, ownership, commitment, and integrity. Farm Credit West is committed to providing support to veteran groups both now and in the future.

As the average age of a farmer is 57, the need for young, beginning, and small farming/ranching is intensifying. With almost one quarter of all farmers in the United States expected to retire in the next twenty years, greater focus, creativity and resources are required to keep America farming. Farm Credit West’s support of young, beginning, and small farmers (including veterans) is focused on assisting interested young people identify and be placed in Ag related careers. Len provides mentorship to veteran students that will soon be entering the workforce.
