My Job Depends on Ag
Thousands of yard signs were given away and a similar number of stickers sold at a noontime event June 22 in Tulare, Calif., held in response to derogatory comments the town’s mayor made about agriculture on social media.
A subsequent noontime rally in support of agriculture June 1 in Tulare drew thousands, as yard signs and stickers were given away. The event at Garton Tractor in Tulare was co-sponsored by GAR Tootelian of Reedley, which teamed up over a year ago with the nonprofit group “My Job Depends on Ag,” to provide yard signs to help people show local politicians how many people derive their living from agriculture. GAR Tootelian hosted a tailgate gathering before the council meeting.
With the help of Farm Credit West, 3,000 “My Job Depends on Ag” yard signs were given away, 800 window decals were sold, and 960 BBQ sandwiches were served. The event was a huge success for the future of California agriculture.
